Salary information – £27,514 – £30,095

Exhall Grange Specialist School is a county-wide specialist provision for pupils aged between 4 and 19 on the outskirts of Coventry. The school meets the needs of pupils who are unable to access the curriculum in a mainstream school owing to their sensory impairment or physical disabilities or the impact of long-term illness or social communication difficulties including autism.

The site is campus style with six separate buildings and has an exceptional range of facilities including a swimming pool, gym, sensory room, soft playroom and enterprise kitchen as well as design technology facilities and science laboratories.  The school’s outside space comprises of a large sports field, forest school and hard tarmac playground areas. To support extra-curricular activities the school has a small fleet of five mini-buses.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and skilled Health, Safety and Premises Advisor to provide efficient and effective management of our school site. The successful candidate will hold the NEBOSH General Certificate and the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management. You will be able to demonstrate at least 3 years senior management experience in leading the Health and Safety of an organisation.  The Health and Safety aspect of this role will require you to develop, implement and maintain systems and processes to ensure the safety of all site users and minimise risk whilst fostering an appropriate health and safety culture throughout the whole school community.

You will work closely with the premises team, Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and Governors of the school to ensure all health and safety measures and procedures are followed, monitored and maintained across the school site.

Strong communication and organisational skills are essential for this role.

You will have a proven track record of advising on health and safety issues, as well as practical experience of undertaking audits, inspections, risk assessments and accident investigation as well as delivering presentation and briefing sessions on workplace health and safety issues.

Although experience of supporting health and safety within Education and Learning would be desirable, this is not essential providing you have transferable skills.
